Interior Architect and Visualizer
Germany 2020
DR. MEYER ZAHNMEDIZIN
Nordic tranquility and the maritime lifestyle of the North Sea were the main design concept with the working title “Zahnwerft” or “Toothed shipyard” for the 400 square meter loft-like structure as the starting parameters in Norden, north Germany. The concept was realized by exposed wood beams on the ceiling as an attractive design element to imitate ships’ bone structure and accentuate the architecture. Other visually underlined details such as the Frisian tiles in front of the treatment rooms were used to connect the interior to the project’s location.
When implementing the project, the focus was to choose warm materials such as oak wood as well as exposed concrete to create a relaxed, comfortable, and welcoming environment, as opposed to typical sterilized and cold clinical feelings that cause stress for the users.
The lighting design was formulated with daylight in mind, as the partition walls were stacked with glass on top, to permit the natural light to flow through the entire interior. Furthermore, the two main corridors were furnished with a raw of pendant light with up-light and down-light features, which support the wayfinding while illuminating the high ceiling.
